Brandy or whiskey to feed the Christmas cake?

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions? My Mum always uses whiskey, but all recipes seem to use brandy. Maybe my mum only uses whiskey because we don't tend to have Brandy in the house but my dad does like a good whiskey?

Which is better or does it not make any difference?

I use whiskey for the soaking & feeding, but mainly because we always have whiskey & I dont know what we'd do with the leftover brandy.
I'd feed with the same as you soaked the fruit, unless it's all gone, in which case, whatever you have or would like to finish off afterwards. :)

The fruit was soaked in Brandy (because it was a Delia cheat pack Blush) and I can't stand brandy or whiskey (or indeed any spirits) in terms of drinking them! I don't suppose feeding it with Rose wine would work? Grin

I do have a bottle of fairly cheap brandy and a bottle of nice single malt (for my Dad's visits) so i think maybe I'll use up some of the brandy on it.

Cheers

I use port because I like it.

I use rum for my Christmas cake - for soaking and feeding. I would say brandy though if you soaked it in brandy.
