Surprised Nigella doesn't tell you though

Lucycat · 06/01/2006 18:27

did you put an onion in with the coke? that seemed to make it taste yummy.

Lucycat · 06/01/2006 18:36

Oh and she does tell you on the website....

'Ifind now that mild-cure gammon doesn't need soaking. If you know that you're dealing with a salty piece, then put it in a pan covered with cold water, bring to the boil then tip into a colander in the sink and start from here'

bit late now sorry!

I wondered that too, How do you "know you're dealing with a salty piece"? Eat a chunk raw?

Lucycat · 06/01/2006 19:38

err on the side of caution! the real Lucycat would eat it raw for me, but her vocab isb't up to 'yep this is a salty one'
