Did anyone not like the taste (I know everyone says it's not salty but do you double triple promise me?!)

Everyone who has ever brined a turkey liked it. They told me. Grin

It doesn't taste as much as juicify.

Juicify - I like it :)

Never done it with turkey, but the recipe I user for southern fried chicken brines it and it's delicious.

I have brined a turkey the last couple of years and the turkey doesn't get salty just juicy.

virgiltracey · 27/11/2011 19:38

I did it last year and didn't notice the slightest bit of difference - despite shelling out a small fortune for all the various spices etc to go into the brine!

I double triple promise you it's not salty. Not 100% sure it's worth the effort though.

I farted around for hours during the Nigella "we must all fill a tub with wondrous stuff and bathe a turkey" year - and noticed not one iota of difference. Except for all the liquid on the kitchen floor.

Oh dear, Hassled! :)

I think it looks really fun to do - it's the sort of cooking I love, chucking loads of ingredients in but no real effort. But then the other half of me wants to buy a ncie bronze or black turkey and just cook it as normal.

seriously, nigella promised me my guests would "weep with greedy gratitude" but not one tear.... not one!

It didn't make any difference

If money was no object, I'd buy 4 turkeys to cook at the same time and compare - one bronze, one black, one bog-standard superkarket white unbrined and one bog-standard supermarket white brined. Doing different ones each year means you forget from one year to the next what they taste like!
