I have a bag of brussels sprouts in my fridge and do not know what to do with them. Usually I cook them in water and that it. I also tried to cook them with tomatoes and sweet peppers. So, how do you prepare brussels sprouts?

Mix them with a bit of chopped, fried Bacon. LOVELY!

BUT beware it can make you rather windy!

i find wrapped in newspaper, tightly, and thrown in the compost is my favourite way of dealing with sprouts

My MIL does a great sprouts with cream and chestnuts which is gorgeous. Dunno the recipe.

Cook the sprouts slightly over done, roughly mash them and then stir in some warmed double cream and a good grating of nutmeg. Terribly healthy and low in calories of course, but bloody delicious.

For Dh and 9y DD I slice them reasonably thinly and dry fry them in a pan with chopped chorizo (or smoky bacon) and seasoning. I then melt in a knob of butter before serving.

I do mine the same but without the meat.

Do not eat bacon any more but will try the mash. Thank you. I would like to try them pickled.

I like them left on the shelf in the supermarket.

tooearlymustdache, why even to grow or buy sprouts if you are going to throw them into the compost?
Panzee I doubt they are crying out loud for being left on the supermarket shop. :)

I tried a new recipe yesterday and they turned out great.

Roast brussel sprouts

cut them in half and place them on a backing tray, add salt and pepper and drizzle some olive oil over it. Roast in med-hot oven for about 25-30 mins

They are so yummy, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (even got dd aged 5 to eat them)

Sounds delicious chipo!
