I am having a get together with some friends and colleagues next month and the themes will be Gluhwein and laughs.

I can't think of anything apart from sausages and mince pies for eats.

What are your favourite canapes?

With a strong spicy fruit flavour like mulled wine I'd have to serve classic prune/bacon combo Devils on Horseback Dead easy.

Thanks, I love the idea of roasted chestnuts. I could do them on the bbq. I love stollen and lebkuchen very much.

The bacon out here sucks CogitoErgoSometimes, would pancetta work for Devils on Horseback?

blue cheese is a lovely munch with mulled wine, so how about a nice lump of blue d'auvergne (sp?) with some crackers?

Depending on numbers (and if you can be arsed) roast some new potatoes on a bed of salt (makes them crispy) and add a dollop of cream cheese.
