It was given as a healthy recipe on a bbc website but it didn't taste very tasty iyswim?

Garlic
Chilli
Chopped chicken
green beans
chick peas
sweet corn
onions
tin tomatoes
peppers

Soonful curry powder

Cooked for 60 minutes then served with brown rice

What could I add to make this more tasty?
Is there a 'secret' ingredient that people add to casseroles, etc to jazz them up?

How much chilli and curry powder did you use, compared to your tomatoes?

1 chilli and a teapoon of mild curry powder would make a fairly mild taste. 2 chillies and 2 tsp hot curry powder would blow the roof of your mouth off Grin

If it were me, I would heat oil and seasoning (plus salt and pepper) in a large frying pan, fry an onion, the peppers and the garlic, then fry off the chicken. Add the tomatoes and chick peas and simmer for 20 mins minimum while the rice cooked, then serve the sweetcorn and green beans on the side.

To add depth of flavour, I might chuck in some turmeric, ginger, paprika etc depending what was in the cupboard at the time Blush

Ohh that's a good idea!

I used 1 tbsp mild curry powder and 1 little squish of lazy chilli Blush Was this wrong do you think?

Not wrong, just not to your taste - there's no "wrong" in cooking unless your cake breaks teeth Grin

Once all the ingredients are in, have a taste - clean teaspoon with a little bit of sauce, blow before trying or you'll burn your tongue* Shock - then you can chuck more spice in if it's tastes vile Smile

*I have never done this. Oh no, not me. Nope, never ever...

It's not often I can help with these things. I'm of the "bung it in and see what turns out" school - no Delia here Wink

I always taste and keep adding spices until it tastes right. Some recipes don't use enough IMO.
