Help! How do I stop the colour bleeding out of fondant carrots...on a cake?!?!

I have made tiny carrots out of fondant to decorate a carrot cake - they look really cute but after a couple of days on the tester cupcakes the colour has started to bleed into the buttercream.
Is there a way of stopping this from happening?
Brushing with Vodka/eggwhite/glucose are all going around in my head but I am not sure.
Can anyone help please?!
