Does anyone have a tasty gluten free dessert recipe?

That is relatively easy, not time consuming and isn't frozen?

Travelling to friends about 3hrs away, said we would take dessert and it needs to be gluten free. I don't have a lot of time spare either (just to make things easy :o )

What would you make if it didn't need to be gluten free ? Virtually all desserts become gf very easily.

But I'd probably make gf brownies - just get a bag of Doves Farm gf SR flour and everything else is the same as normal. Pick up a pot of nice ice cream at their end

Well, I was just saying to DH that I would like to find a gf brownie recipe then I could take some raspberries and cream. I actually wasn't sure if there was a proper gf flour that wasn't chickpea or something.

Is baking powder gf?

Some are, some aren't - but its easy to find gf baking powder in the supermarket free from section

Thank you. I use the MN easy brownies recipe, so really easy pudding. Now just to decide whether to put nuts in or not....

How about dried cherries instead ? I like the texture, and the sour ones make a nice contrast

I was just thinking I had some macadamia nuts left from another recipe :o

Does the gf flour act in the same way as ordinary flour, or is there anything else I need to do?

I imagine it must be really hard being allergic to stuff, I would imagine people can be put off baking for those with allergies iyswim?

I'm coeliac and find g/f flour can be a bit unpredictable

I'd do some meringues as well, just in case

The Doves Farm flour is blended so you don't need to do anything different.

Its not too bad normally - after a while you get used to it, but the number of times I've been presented with fruit salad for dessert when out is rather depressing. Or everyone else gets lovely cake and I get a bought macaroon.

My sis is GF and my fail safe pudding is usually homemade mousse. Works a treat

I tend to make all my cakes with dove farm flour and although they don't rise as much they taste pretty good :)

Elizabeth David's best cake ever and is flourless. It doesn't take that long to do and can be served to everyone.

That should say 'best chocolate cake ever'. Use 70% chocolate.

Thank you all :)

I made brownies. I followed the recipe on the back of the gf flour bag and added white choc chunks and macadamia nuts. Taste good but fall apart very easily.
