Recipe calls for cider vinegar but all I've got is balsamic - will that cock it up royally?

it's a sweet and sour cabbage dish

balsamic is a strong flavour - cider is more like malt (but a bit sweeter)

have you any white wine? that might be a better substitute. or if you have some malt vinegar as well, put a bit of both in?

no white wine, no malt...

what if i put less in than the recipe suggests? it is a sweet n sour dish

3tbs of balsamic is quite a lot

just put 1 in & taste it before adding more?

notnowbernard · 15/11/2011 18:44

ok, am going for it [fed up of eating coleslaw]

oh good! (I just came back to check!)

well done. you can now submit it, with your balsamic tweak, to recipe competitions as your own invention Smile
