How are you doing the sweet potato, are you roasting it with the butternut squash?

If so I reckon you need some leafy greens or you can't go wrong with some steamed broccoli.

Mind you, that would be some people's idea of hell, but I do love my greens. The sausages and roasted veg would be quite rich so you need something leafy and green to offset all that richness.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure what would be best. Thanks

CABBAGE!

I love my cabbage, me!

Slice thinly and steam for 5 minutes.
When cooked, squeeze a bit of lemon juice over the top. Yum!

We've had every night for a fortnight and I'm not bored yet!

headfairy · 11/11/2011 16:04

well dd loves her broccoli so I'd probably do something like that, or peas. Something simple though.

nomadwantshome · 11/11/2011 16:06

Yep defo something green as the roast veg is quite sweet

Catsmamma · 11/11/2011 16:06

there was a real food tesco recipe card along thses lines the other week

they had onions, squash, sweet potato and sausages with red peppers. We made it and really enjoyed it, but I felt it needed some sort of sauce

mandoo · 11/11/2011 16:10

Yes I was thinking cheese sauce too rich but gravy not quite right?

FunnysInTheGarden · 11/11/2011 16:11

peas! and poss gravy

hocuspontas · 11/11/2011 16:12

One of my favourite dinners - we have ours with cauliflower cheese.

headfairy · 11/11/2011 16:12

An onion gravy might be quite nice. Something to drizzle over your sweet potatoes.

Can I come round for tea? sounds really nice - all I'm having is reheated 3 day old cottage pie as I'm at work :(

mandoo · 11/11/2011 16:15

I have a cauliflower for cauli cheese but thought it might be all a bit rich together, will add onions and red pepper though catsmamma sound good.

Jbck · 11/11/2011 16:24

FunnysInTheGarden · 11/11/2011 16:25

or 'jus' if you want a posher name............

Sossiges · 11/11/2011 16:25

Green beans and onion gravy. Yum.

DamnDeDoubtance · 11/11/2011 16:27

I would cook the sausages in a gravy with some nummy lentils.

ednurse · 11/11/2011 16:27

I'd add red peppers and onions. Maybe mix in some kind of tomato based sauce.

BikeRunSki · 11/11/2011 16:32

Tomatoey sauce.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 17:00

I was going to say cauliflower cheese but otherwise savoy cabbage and a nice port and onion gravy would be lovely. You've made me really fancy this now.

See you soon - I'll bring my own veggie sausages!

mandoo · 11/11/2011 17:36

Have gone for the cauli cheese as I had the necessary ingredients in the fridge. Will report back once it's eaten!
