Car Themed Birthday Party Food for a 4 year old -any ideas?

DS will be 4 and we're having 6 other boys over to our house for a party and tea. The theme will loosely be cars (imaginative I know), so I was looking for ideas on easy ways (which can be done in advance) to max up the car theme bit on the food side. Ideas I have so far:

  • hula hoops in clean duplo dumper trucks on the table
  • rectangular mini cakes with smartie traffic lights (poss with a matchmaker as the post)
  • poss traffic light fruit things on cocktail sticks - green grape, amber melon, but what for RED?
  • white/brown sandwiches in some artistic set up which looks like a chequered flag (and which only any adults will realise is supposed to be vaguely car like). If I could be bothered / able to buy a car biscuit cutter I suppose all sandwiches could be that shape (seeing as they never eat any of them anyway?)
  • poss some of that pasta which is in wheel shapes?

Any other ideas. I feel I should be able to make something out of mini sausages or mini Babybells, or cucumber wheels.

Come and inspire me!

for the red fruit thing what about strawberries (I know out of season but this is a 4yrs old's party) or cherry tomatoes. There is a wheel shaped pasta shape, waggon wheels.....

traffic light jelly (i.e. strawberry/orange/lime layers) in a glass bowl
