How many times can I heat this up?

Dh made a huge pot of chilli con carne on Friday evening. We heated it up last night for our New Year's eve guests. I've just heated it up again for the kids lunch and there's still some left.

Can I get away with heating it up once more for dh when he comes home?

dont think I would. You should have heated up portions. If he has a strong immune system go for it!!!

I thought they'd eat it all but they preferred the rice.

I'd probably take a chance - make sure it boils thoroughly though and is piping hot! (I absolve myself of any responsibility though if it all goes pear shaped! )

Hmmmm! One answer says 'chuck' and one says 'eat'. Can someone give me a decider please?

Better still, does anyone know the science?

ahve done it myslef in the past. i would say that this would be the lat time and as mistleareo says make sure it is bubbling away for a while.

done this with chilli ans things like stew, don't at the moment as pg, but when not more than happy to have a lovely stew on the third heating! it improves the flavour imo!

Great. That's what I wanted to hear. I hate waste and it's a gorgeous chilli apparently. Haven't tried it myself as am veggie otherwise I'd scoff the lot.

personally i wouldnt risk it!

im sure 3 heatings up is already more than they recommend! (i personally may heat thinsg up a third time (but for MYSELF only) but not a 4th for anyone!

I'd go for it ..... IMO it's how OLD it is rather than how many times you've cooked it ..... BUT I would boil it for EVER
