Which make do you recommend please?

Preferably one where you freeze the bowl (or even better, a disc) rather than the expensive ones that do the mixing-and-freezing from scratch.

And have a Biscuit as I can't offer you any ice cream.

A Magimix Glacier... Freeze the bowl, attach the paddle, ice-cream results!

Mines a cheapo one from Argos, does the job the two times I used it

When Santa brings it, treat your Christmas guests to some seasonally scrummy 'Spiced IceCream' with their Christmas Pud!

200ml milk
200ml single cream
1 cinammon stick
4oz sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tsp mixed spice

  • Heat the milk and cream with the sugar and cinammon stick slowly until it reaches boiling point.
  • In a separate bowl whisk the egg-yolks and mixed spice until frothy
  • Take the milk/cream off the heat, remove the cinammon stick, give it 1 minute, then pour it slowly into the whisked yolks, whisking as you go to make a thin custard
  • Allow this mixture to cool, whisking occasionally, before transferring to your pre-frozen bowl, attaching the motor/paddle assembly and switching on. When the paddle starts to stick in the mixture, the ice-cream is ready.

Making some at the moment...

When you ask Santa for the ice-cream maker, ask him for a copy of David Lebovitz's "Scoop" too - best book to make ice-cream!

In terms of the make, I'd tell him you've been really good and hope for a KitchenAid mixer with an ice cream attachment.

I have an M&S one - but it freezes as otherwise I have to not use my freezer to actually get the bowl in.

It is bloody brill - have had mine for about 5 years and not sure if they do them anymore - mond you buying hagen daas half price when it is on offer is cheaper than bloody making it.
