I bought a huge bag of it to make shortbread and consequently have lots left over.

No milk puddings please!

Or something else that's not shortbread perhaps?

oh thank god

I thought someone wanted to grind their own rice then

(can you use it to thicken soups and sauces?)

Twiglett · 22/12/2005 09:16

when in doubt just google

Thanks twiglett! Have you had a look at that souffle recipe from Mrs Beeton?

You need a salamander or someone to hold a red hot shovel over the souffle at table to prevent it sinking!

What's a salamander (apart from the obvious)?

And how can I persuade a member of my family to hold a red hot shovel over the table?

And how will I get it red hot anyway?

Do we have a shovel?

Ah life is full of mystery....

but I thought every household kept a salamander purely for souffles

really anorak .. I'm surprised at you, didn't you put one on your wedding list
