I have a bunch of 3 - 5 yr olds and their parents coming over for a Halloween party and had planned on doing some fairy cakes with "scary" icing (some as spiders webs, some with cats on etc). Its occurred to me that one of the children is lactose intolerant so obviously won't be able to have the fairy cakes as they have butter in. Since I remembered this at the weekend, I've been trying to think of some treats I can do which he can enjoy but just can't think of any... any suggestions? I'm sure I must be missing something obvious but every recipe I seem to have involves butter or milk or chocolate.

Thanks

Check out Hannah Banana bakery. She's a vegan baker and I think she has a blog with recipes too.

Buy some Pure margarine and a carton of soy milk - then you can just substiute for butter and milk directly in your normal recipe.

just do exactly the same but with a dairy-free spread

Dairy free spread in the cakes, then use milk free plain choc and circles of white icing to make spider webs.

There are also halloween haribo at the moment - I've got some to pop on cakes for ds1.

Also rice crispy things with marshmallow (just check the cereal has no milk) and syrup/ dairy free spread.
