How long does food stay frozen in a cooler bag?

We're off to my SIL's for xmas, and I'd like to take a couple of homemade frozen meals for ds, incase of emergency (he's a good eater generally, but tends to reject 'new' food and I want as stress free few days as possible without hunger pangs....).
Is there a way of keeping stuff frozen during a 4/5 hour car journey?. Would the little containers stay frozen for that length of time in a cooler box surrounded by ice?
Feeling a bit dim as have never had to do this before. Any tips or advice much appreciated...

Yes a proper solid walled cooler box should keep things frozen for that length of time. Put it in the car last, away from any source of heat (right at the back of the boot). Instead of just Ice, get 2 or 3 of those frozen plastic blocks, and make sure there is no empty air space in the box.
Do make sure the lid is clipped properly on the box too.

What cooler bag did either of you end up getting ? I have a 4 and a half hour move to East Anglia this summer and I’m worried that everything is going to melt. I have this one in my Amazon wish list ..
