storing sweet chestnuts for christmas

best tried and tested method - for freezing do you pop them out and just freeze?

I boil, peel and freeze. Still got some from last year actually...

I think it was about 15 minutes. Until they're peelable, anyway. Tip... cut a slot or small cross in the skin of each one first. Peeling is a rubbishly fiddly job but much easier if they are still hot so, when cooked, keep most of them in the hot water and peel just a few at a time. Your fingers will be purply brown and a bit sore by the end. Alternatively, you can roast the chestnuts and peel them that way. Discard any that have little holes in them.
