What I am supposed to do with a marrow then?

Boss has given me a marrow he grew in his allotment. DH says he likes marrow but has no idea how to cook them. Stuffing sounds a bit like a faff.

Any ideas?

Try this one it's bloody delicious. Not a faff at all.

I love marrow. Just peel, de-seed and cut into chunks. Then fry in butter and grind on black pepper. Yum.
Or you could add a little curry powder or cinnamon.

I do rockstock's one - really lovely.

I've also started doing marrow soup - sounds a bit weird, but actually very nice. Chopped onion, roughly cubed marrow (can leave skin on), 1-2 cubed potatoes (skin off if want it very smooth - I never bother) with some water (to 2/3 cover the marrow - make sure pot is down in water though) and a stock cube or two, salt/pepper. Boil 15min (just whenever pots are soft). Then whizz up til smooth with hand blender/liquidiser. Nice with grated cheese on top.

OK - now a related question. How long do they last? 'Cos it's still there looking at me.

Marrow is great for veg curry as it takes on the flavours so well. Fry onion and garlic in olive oil or butter until soft, add spices - I'd recommend 1/2 tsp turmeric with 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp madras curry powder and 2 cardamom pods (or you could use curry paste if you want to speed things up - 1/4 jar of Pataks jalfrezi paste is nice), then chunks of marrow then a tin of tomatoes, and some veg stock and cook for forty minutes to an hour.

No, don't cut it up!!
Cut it in half lengthwise. De-seed.
Fill with any form of mince - bolognese or spicy curry mince or chilli or normal mince.
Cover with grated cheese.
Wrap in foil and bake for 30 or 40 mins.
Amaaayzing.
Oh, and the skin is also edible - it's just a massive courgette! - so eat the lot!

Lovely stuffed with chicken/mushroom in white sauce & baked in the oven....

It's a winner with kids when you cut the ends off, scrape the seeds out and stuff it with chicken, Philadelphia cream cheese, asparagus and peppers with a sprinkle of Salt and a squeeze of lemon juice. Just seal it up tightly in foil and cook for 90 mins or till soft. All the kids in my family love it- 21 months, 66 yrs and 74 years old! it's nice stuffed with most things.

Cut it into rings and par boil... stuff the middle with with sausage meat and roast in oven. Top of sausagemeat goes all crunchy. Have with mash, runner beans and gravy yum!
