Selection of Crisps for 10 Children ...

That's what I've been ordered to provide for Friday's school Xmas party.

I'm okish about crisps, if they're simple. DS1 is 4, so a bit of salt won't do him any harm.

But a "selection"? Doesn't that imply little bags of E-number-ridden scary-flavoured crisps?

Could I just bring in a big bag of pretzels, and a big bag of plain nice crisps? I could just ask, but what if they say "no"?

(Yes, I know, the other parents bringing in food won't be working with the same concerns. I'm sure DS1 will eat some scary stuff. That's fine, it's just one day. But I'm not buying scary stuff.)

Please, no crisps for kids. It is a poison. Loaded with salt. If you start with a litle crisps at a time when they are little, you are setting a bad eating habbits for your children. Salt is bad for kids. Don't you want to have healthy kids? No wonder they get colds and flus all the time. They lack of healthy food and vitamins. Immune system is weak.
You want to make them happy to give them something tasty ok, but is it good? Sorry for being harsh.
Crisps sould be banned for kids.

oh lighten up!! A few crisps every so often is not going to do any harm if they are given as part of a healthy balanced diet. DD is a bit partial to the walkers potato head crisps and they have less saturated fat in them compared to normal walkers crisps.

I am just wonderring why anyone who makes sure that her or his child has a good balanced healthy diet would give him a crisps ? I did not mean to be horrible and ofcourse nobody will die after a pack of crisps . I still think it is not type of treat kids should have.

Why not make your own potato crisps... if time allows and just chuck a bit of salt on them or paprika, mixed italian herbs. And get teh vegetable root ones from a health food shop.

leogaela · 15/12/2005 08:30

...only add a little salt though !

um .. these kids are 4 .. why shouldn't they have crisps

I think that's a touch over-controlling

educating a child on healthy diet should not include banning food types totally .. have you ever heard the phrase everythign in moderation

kids who are not allowed sweets and crisps eat them behind their parents back
