Afternoon Tea menu

Help me create the ideal afternoon tea menu please. I want to reach some sort of perfection for dd1's birthday.

Current ideas:

mini sandwiches (unfortunately fillings will be dull because dd1 has no sense of sandwich adventure)
either mini sausage rolls or little cheese roux pastry things (never made those before)
mini golden meringues with cream and rasps
mini pecan tarts (never made before, will need trial run)
chocolate fridge cake or chocolate, cherry and coconunt slice (little squares)
cupcakes - chocolate or vanilla? buttercream or fondant? These will be the 'birthday cake' so need to include something spongy

Victoria sponge with fresh cream and fresh rasberries or strawberries for the filling

ritz tarts look nice but I am having cream and rasps in the meringues (which I am v good at and smug about).

I do like a cream and strawb victoria but now I am taken by the idea of gaudy overblown cupcakes on the top layer. Something almost vulgar would appeal more to the teen, I think.

The birthday is next Thurs. Gives me time to trial run the pecan pie tarts and anything else that comes up.
