Leaving stews, soups and currys out

Ive just had a curry with stewing steak in for 2 hrs on the hob simmering and its now cooked, it has coconut cream in and milk. Its for tonight. I dont have any room in the fridge , is it ok to leave it out and then bring to boil again later? I would normally fridge it. Whats the consensus on these things?

It will be fine as it is already cooked and heating it up thoroughly will kill any potrentially harmful bacteria. Sounds yummy btw

Hmm... think you're okay for up to 2 hours in room temperature before you're supposed to fridge stuff. Could you cover it securely and put it in a cooler room like a garage or something?

Tinker · 23/11/2005 11:45

I'd eat it but if you're wary, outside must be cold enough atm

GeorginaA · 23/11/2005 11:46

Outside is currently 3 degrees - lock it in a car boot until you need it?

MrsSpoon · 23/11/2005 11:47

Sounds nice, have you got a recipe?

Agree it will be fine, especially if you put it outside, although if your kitchen is anything like mine it's not very warm anyway and wouldn't think it would be a problem.

ahhh might stick it out the back door , lol my late nana used to do that with stews!

Its a red thai curry , brown 400 g chunked stewing steak then add 2 tblspoons of red thai curry paste(sainsburys do one and waitrose does a real thai one in a plasic pot with thai writing on no brand name on it), let that heat through , then add a tablespoon of palm sugar. Add 400g of cococnut milk bring to boil and then simmer vvvvv low for 2 hrs.

Make sure it's in a secure container or you may have some happy and fat neighbourhood cats!
