Help! Volunteered to bake cakes for DS's school stall and don't want to buy tesco's fairy cakes and "distress" them

like that scene in "I don't know how she does it".

I thought I'd make muffins, but it's ages since I did and I can't remember how to make them and have lost the recipe. So do any mumsnetters have any suitable recipes for fairy cake type things which are quick, easy and will catapult me to the head of the muffia?

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I can give you a basic bun recipe, and if you have food colouring you could divide the mix into sections and colour accordingly, Huge street cred I should think.

Bumping for the weekday crowd - still want some more recipes - really nice ones, because I want to be able to eat some of these things too!

OK today's the day and I've realised I've got some cocoa, so can make chocolate sponge. How much do I need to substitute in the flour?
