and I have to simmer stuff on a stove for 1 hr in a heavy flameproof lidded casserole dish for a "one pot chicken chasseur".

Dont have such a thing. Would you advise - just do it in a lidded saucepan OR
use normal pyrex casserole dish and doin oven instead.

Thoughts appreciated - I'm not an instinctive cook!

I'd do it on the hob in a lidded pan, but tbh I don't think it would matter either way really.

I would put in in a casserole dish in the oven, although the lidded saucepan would probably be fine.

Won't matter either way but I would do the same as Jareth x

Thanks everyone - I am trying it in a lidded saucepan on the hob. Fingers crossed.
