Can I use turmeric nearly a year after the BBE date?

I haven't used it for ages, but the lid of the pot has been closed (plastic click-type lid), date is July 2010. Will it be ok? I know the flavour maybe won't be as strong, but I only need about a tsp for the recipe. I just want to know if it'll be safe.

TIA

Safe, yes.

All of my spices are out of date and no one has died yet. I think maybe they just begin to lose their strength x

Thank you, I guessed as much but wanted to be sure. I think all of mine are too jen , but I rarely use them (as proven by this thread!)

Thanks for your help! Smile

It'll be fine but stale.

You can but no idea why you would want to. You might as well sprinkle actual dust into your dinner as it will taste the same
