would you buy the magimix with the XL feed tube or stick with the normal one?

i'm never quite sure where to post questions about kitchen kit so i may try good housekeeping as well!

so, having convinced myself i "need" a magimix food processor, i'm weighing up the pros and cons of the extra-large feed tube. i guess there are more bits to wash up, but it would be handy to be able to stick a whole potato/apple/onion in, wouldn't it? oh, and it makes the unit a bit taller, but i can cope with that.

or is it a case of the original was fine, why change it?
anyone thoughts either way?

I've got the original and have not found the feeder tube an issue. If I'm thinly slicing spuds or onions I just cut them in half first.

Same as Cogito - I've found the normal feed tube is fine for everything so far. I actually can usually get whole small to medium potatoes in there anyway.

Onions you have to peel and take the root off first anyway, so you've got the knife out, and apples you might want to core first.

Potatoes are the only ones where you might want to put the whole thing in but it's no big deal to just cut them in half first.

Normal food tube here too and not a problem. LOVE my magimix though! Is well worth buying!
