Ministry of Food - what worked for you?

I know the Jamie 'Ministry' book isn't exactly new, but I've only recently acquired it.

Everything I've done from it so far has worked like a charm, including this evening the pan-fried (really, how else?) glazed pork chops which my borderline veggie DD devoured!

Also done the lamb rogan, the pot-roast meatloaf, the pasta with peas & ham, and the thing with the trout fillets topped with Dijon mustard and oatmeal. All yum.

So can you point me in the direction of other recipes in there that have worked really well for you?

The fish pie recipe is brilliant - really easy and soooo yum! Also the meatballs recipe is a winner - we've had that so many times now. I keep thinking I must try the meatloaf, yum!

Yorkshire puds, all the stews and the curries..... Love it....

Littlepurpleprincess · 10/05/2011 19:22

The curries are fab. We also like the pan-seared tuna, and the chilli con carne.

Ditto the yorkshire puds.

the yorkshires are the only ones that have ever worked for me, the pea and mint soup, i follow the basic idea for curries, and i'd never made my own gravy until i got that book, they chilli is good, i have also started doing any mince dish without browning the meat - works so well! the stews were a bit dodgy as i found i needed much more liquid or they dried out!

Thanks all of you. I must try the yorkshires - I used to be able to make them and then about a year ago I lost the ability and they turn out like dumplings! Not sure why. Let's hope St Jamie of Oliver might be able to help!

Think I might give the chilli a whirl on next week's meal plan.

Second the curries - the veg jalfrezzi is fab and lasts for ages so quite a cheap healthy option for a few nights.

His pancakes dead easy too and really yum.

ooo I had forgotten about the pancakes. I use it nearly every saturday.
