Hi,

DD and I have made some chocolate fairy cakes using cocoa. We have been a bit over enthusiastic with the old cocoa and they are a bit strong. iykwim.

What would you recommend we top them with this afternoon to cut through the chocolate a bit? I've got most baking type stuff in as we bake quite a bit (just not normally with cocoa!)

Thanks if you can help.

cream cheese frosting or a vanilla butter cream

They sound delish!

You could try:

  • piping whipped cream on them; the blandness of the cream to counteract the dense chocolatey-ness of the cake. Yip, am aware I sound like a ponce.

  • cream cheese icing. Mix butter, Philli type cheese and icing sugar. Very yummy. Not sure how to explain why I think that'd work, but i think it would.

Ah, cross-post. Am slow typist today.

Cream cheese sounds good, will have a quick google for quantities. We put raspberries in half of them, I bet the philli would go really nicely with them.

Thanks very much.
