have bought fondant icing sugar - will it be ok on a fruit cake with marzipan?

Yep. do the marzipan then leave it to dry off a little (maybe half an hour or so) and put the icing straight over the top of it

I'd leave the marzipan to dry out for 24 hours minimum. Then brush with melted apricot jam, then cover with the fondant.

thanks all - just plopped it on top of the marzipan - I'll let you know how it turns out!
