where from?
I get vacuum paked hand of pork from local farm and they are always delicious.

Why would it be grim? It will probably be fine. Is it in the fridge?

I've had vacuum packed joints. They're usually absolutely fine. Personally, I wouldn't take it out until Sun morning. They don't come out that sweaty.

Take it out a little while before you want to use it - pork sometimes has a slight odour to it if its been vacuum packed and let it dry thoroughly before you use it.

Oh thanks, I'm relieved. I think I must have been being a little bit food snobbish.

Phew.

I'm thinking of slow cooking it - so shall unwrap it and dry it a couple hours before roasting it.

Does that pass muster?

it will be fine.

i was reading a thing the other day about buying the best meat and they actually advised getting vacuum packed stuff.

don't know where you normally buy your meat, but the stuff on the meat counter at sainsburys comes in vacuum packed and they juist open it and put it on display,

ChaosTrulyReigns · 22/04/2011 22:26

I normally buy hoints of meat from the local butcher, but chickens from the supermarket, which are vacuum packed anyway aren't they? I flipping must have had a logic bypass. I do NOT make sense.

Confused

Thanks for the Lidl tip Maryz, there's one just down the road, and I haven't tried their meat. I will give it a try.

The organic meat I by direct from the farm comes vacuum packed. I didn't know I couldn't be a food snob and buy vacuum packed meat Blush

It's delicious BTW

Sorry.
