They are the big weetabix biscuits, - not the little choc chip mini things that DH was supposed to buy for the DC. They wont touch them & now I am left with a big box of them!

Melt 2oz butter, 2oz sugar and 2 tbsp golden syrup in a pan. Crumble the weetabix up and mix in. Form into next shapes and add eggs, chicks etc.

Did this with shredded wheat last year at youth club - kids loved it!

I'm watching with interest! I made the sane mistake and can't eat them as cereal as they taste bloody awful (unlike the delicious mini ones!)

Yes! Good idea, thank you!

And you can keep the kids occupied making them Grin

The gloopy mixture doesn't need to get all that hot to melt, so pretty safe for little hands

thanks,
I was thinking along those lines...not sure if they would taste any better though Grin I am sure that the kids will like them however!

It is rather a big box so still need some other suggestions please...

Not very healthy but dip bananas (pineapples, pears ) in egg, roll in crushed weetabix and shallow fry in a little oil until brown.

They might be gross with milk, but I used to know someone who ate them with butter and jam/marmalade. Would chocolate spread make them palatable?

Roughage in milkshakes/smoothies?

Mixed into crumble topping or cookie dough?

Needanewname · 11/04/2011 20:38

throw them in the bin - can;t understand why they've made a perfectly good cereal into a shitty chocolate one!

shockers · 11/04/2011 20:43

So they could do an ad with a Geordie hamster in it Grin

Weetabix with a teapoon of hot chocolate powder did me fine as a kid!

FAB5 · 11/04/2011 21:01

Make your dh eat them or tell the kids tough, they have to eat them.

GetOutMyPub · 12/04/2011 16:18

crumble topping sounds good, but my two DS are not keen on cooked fruit so it will end up being me that eats it all!

mmm pear with chocolate crumble... might have to control myself till the next time we do sunday lunch with the extended family

my two are only little, so if I made them eat it, I would end up with chocolate cement everwhere! (weetabix & banana are the foodstufffs from hell!)
