Anyone got a slow roast pork recipe? Am thinking of hog roasts!

I'm sure I used to have a recipe for slow roast pork and the accompanying picture showed meat (practically shredded) in crusty rolls like a hog roast. I think it was part of an article about using cheap cuts of meat.

I never got round to cooking it but now I'm thinking I'd like to try it and can't find it. Does anyone have a recipe that might be successful?! Thanks!

Boned Rolled Shoulder is a really good tasty, inexpensive cut for slow cooking and will fall apart and shred beautifully for your requirements. Remove the fat near the end to crisp up separately for crackling if you like.

I did a "pulled pork" yesterday. It was to die for.It is done with the cheapest cut of pork you can buy,It doesnt work with the better cuts,it needs some fat.It is cooked for a LONG time at a low temp 200-220 degrees fahrenheit. It took 11 hours for a 4lb chunk.
I used this rub on the meat and wrapped in plastic wrap over night

One-quarter cup brown sugar
One-quarter cup sweet paprika
Two teaspoons ground black pepper
Two teaspoons chili powder
Two teaspoons onion powder
One teaspoon garlic powder
One teaspoon mustard powder
One-half teaspoon powdered cayenne

I also cooked mine on a grill dome but it can be done in an oven no problem.

It MUST reach an internal temp of 190 degrees fahrenheit or it does not pull apart

When its done wrap it in tin foil and then in a towel and stick it in a cooler for a couple of hours to rest

It literally pulls apart with 2 forks, most people here eat it with barbeque sauce.
Its to die for and worth the time it takes to cook it.

Thanks again - especially for the pulled pork - that sounds amazing!! Can I be a bit dim and ask exactly which cut of pork is 'the cheapest abd therefore suitable for this recipe? Thanks!

well here its called boneless pork butt but its the top of the shoulder. It does need to be fatty though it doesnt work with good cuts.I dont know what it would cost there but I pay $1.39 LB so its cheap

Thanks for that!
