4.25kg bone in rib of beef - how to cook?

I have a 4.25kg organic bone in rib of beef to cook for 2pm tomorrow. I will be cooking it in an electric fan oven. I like cooking and have loads of herbs etc but am not used to cooking joints of meat and not this big! How long should I cook it for? How should I cook it?

It is for my dad's birthday lunch with his 5 daughters & granddaughter (& for my Mother's Day!) so want to get it right.

Am serving it with rosemary potatoes and salad.

TIA

Google or have you not got a recipe book

When I cook rib roast I put it on a bed of root veg and put in a preheated oven at 220c for 20-30 mins. Then turn the oven down and cook at 160-170c ( depending on how accurate your oven is) for 30 mins per kilo+ 30 mins, so approx2.5 hrs. We do like it a bit pink though ,so add onanother 30 mins if you like it a bit more done.
You can use the bone and scraps of meat left on it to make a wonderful beefy veg soup.

Forgot to add you must rest it for at about 30-45 mins before carving

Thanks very much HerdingCats, that's great. My recipe books are mostly in Italian and so don't tell me how to cook a simple roast beef.
