Tips on Cookie Cutters -they are so hard to use! Do I need a degree?

Hello!

I would really welcome some tips, advice on using cookie cutters.

I tried using them and they were impossible! The shape always gets bent and buckled!

I rolled the dough out thinly, refrigerated it for 1 hr and then used the cookie cutters...but terrible.

Any handy baker tips very welcome!

Maybe you rolled the dough out too thin?

Or the dough might have been too floppy?

Some dough mixtures are not great for using with fancy cutters with thin bits (the kind like animal shapes, etc)

Sometimes it elps if you dip the cutter in flour before cutting.
Use real butter not marge, stiffens up better in the fridge.
Dont roll out too thin.
Yummy! cookies!

Agree with the above. Dough not too thin, refrigerate, dip cookie cutter in flour, then place it on the dough and apply it with a sharp tap, no pushing or wiggling. It should then lift off beautifully.

also, I find plastic cookie cutters are a bit rubbish...metal better
Good luck
