my mum used to make it all the time but doesnt know the main recipie. its a mixture that has yeast in it and grows so you pass it onto friends so they can make it 2

I remember my mum making that. Can't recall her starter mix recipe but Google has a selection.

lol yeah im gonna try and stop smoking again and when i do that i bake loads of stuff. never really eat any of it just give it to people but would love to taste friendship cake again and make my own christmas cake

I remember making loads of these when I was first married. Trouble was we all had the same group of friends so once you'd got rid of the mix, you got given another one !

my mu used to do this and i found it a bit scary. the same original bit of mixture goes around and around and it's like a LIVING THING

WOW! iv been looking for this for years! going to make it now...

The first time I 'got' it I thought, 'How wonderful'.

Then I 'got' it again and thought 'How nice'.

Then again and thought, 'Oh dear, I have to off load this again'

and again and thought 'FFS this is like some sort of edible chain letter that is taking over my kitchen and my life'

Oh I remember doing one when I was about 12, it was in my mums fridge for ages. Can't remember how it tasted though!

Cake is nice, but you can have enough of it!
