How many bottles of wine are currently in your house?

If you've got more than a few, how and where do you store them?

I'm up to about 100 at the moment but only have a 48 bottle wine rack so the rest are stacked in boxes in cupboards and under the stairs.

Any ideas?

I've got none unfortunately. You could always give me some, and I would look after them for you, honest.

notnowbernard · 24/03/2011 20:06

Nada, sadly

TheVisitor · 24/03/2011 20:08

None, unfortunately. Bung us a bottle. Grin

greedychops · 24/03/2011 20:09

We have about 12 but when we bring some back from France we usually store them under the bed a it's a fairly constant temperature, but it's never for long term storage.

NorkyButNice · 24/03/2011 20:41

Under the bed is a good idea - thanks for that.

Everyone else can buy their own! Grin

Geepers · 24/03/2011 20:43

I have one. We are tee total but it was given to us when we gave away a trampoline on freecycle. It's going to school tomorrow for the raffle.

TheVisitor · 24/03/2011 20:43

But you've got looooooooooooads and I've got noooooooooone. :P

HerMajestiesSecretCervix · 24/03/2011 20:43

150 plus minus 5.
5 in kitchen. The rest in the wine cellar.

usualsuspect · 24/03/2011 20:44

none Sad

MmeLindt · 24/03/2011 20:45

We just bought some at a wine fair in France, so about 30 bottles. Have a list for our trip to Germany, we will likely bring back about 5 or 6 cases.

We tend to buy directly from the vineyards.

FirmBottom · 24/03/2011 20:45

none. if i have one i drink it, if i have two or more, i hold a party Grin

5inthebed · 24/03/2011 20:45

I have 6, but that is only because I won a box on here.

memphis83 · 24/03/2011 20:49

when you put any ideas? are you asking on where to store them??? surely storing wine is boring drink them all!!!!!!

hogsback · 24/03/2011 20:52

100 or so here, another, ermm, 2000 or so at family home in France Blush

The ones here are just stored in ordinary racks, they aren't around for long enough for the temperature/humidity to affect them. The ones in France are in a deep cellar.

God I need a wine cellar!

I keep trying to persuade DH we should get one of those spiral staircase wine cellars dug into the garden but he's not having any of it.

We have no basement or cellar sadly.

...

grobag · 24/03/2011 21:51

Over 100, all home made. Stored on racks in dark cupboards.

Hulababy · 24/03/2011 21:55

2 bottles of fizz and 4 or 5 bottles of wine at present. Have a case on order, due any day, and another about to be ordered. We don't order more than we can store easily.

BraveGirl · 30/03/2011 19:00

We had a spiral cellar put into our kitchen 4 years ago and its fab. We buy young, direct from vineyards and store until ready to drink...it saves money in the long run. Usually have 500-600 in stock.

jicky · 30/03/2011 19:15

We also have a spiral cellar, ours is under the garage.

Don't know how much is in there, expect dh does. Not sure if it is in 4 figures.

befuzzled · 30/03/2011 19:17

Zero here too as I hate wine. I think cellar or garage beat bet if no spiral thing?

missmiss · 30/03/2011 19:26

Not enough.

BraveGirl · 30/03/2011 21:11

If no cellar or wine cabinet, best place for storage is actually somewhere the temperature/humidity won't fluctuate too much over time. Garages tend to drop very cold overnight / in winter, so aren't best for long term storage.
But I guess it depends on how long you "keep" your wine before drinking...now there's an idea for a thread!
