So, Jamie's Sausages are full of gristle.

[wunk]

I bought these to make Jool's Pregnant Pasta.

It was delicious but slightly spoiled by the ladylike removal of non-edible items into hand-embroidered linen napkins.

I tend to go for Gluten-free when buying sausages. No breadcrumbs means more meat and much better flavour IME.

The Debbie And Andrew Sicilian Pork Sausages are good for the Pregnant Pasta as they have mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes in them (but are not Gluten free like the rest of thier range) which work well with the recipe.

Oh thanks - where can I find those blighters?

I get them in Tesco. Would probably be in most Supermarkets that do some 'free from' type food though

pointydog · 21/03/2011 22:29

Does italian style mean gristle?

I'd never buy a chef range of food. Bound to be overpriced.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/03/2011 23:01

I know!!

I've had the chipolatas in that range and the cumberland and no gristle there!

I second the debbie and andrew ones - lush!

I had Jamie O's prego pasta tonight, don't think it's much cop tbh!

Blatherskite · 22/03/2011 21:45

We love the Pregnant Pasta here. Is DH and 15 month old DD's favourite.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 22/03/2011 21:50

oooo - we had the pregnant pasta on Sunday night - we all absolutely loved it.

TragicallyHip · 22/03/2011 22:03

I'd rather eat the sausages as they are or cook a spag bol!

senua · 22/03/2011 22:10

Another vote for D&A. I buy the Harrogate which is 97% meat. I used to buy the Black Farmer until he decreased the meat content but increased his price!

Browncoats · 23/03/2011 01:44

We buy the JO Italian Sausages but only when they're on special offer and then we buy in bulk and store in the freezer.

I think they're fantastic. I've had the 'real' Italian sausages from our local Italian stall in the market and they're really similar.

Quit suprised you don't like them TBH

Browncoats · 23/03/2011 01:45

Bollocks. quite instead of quit obviously. Too much Wine tonight!

Blatherskite · 23/03/2011 18:22

We had the Pregnant Pasta tonight after this thread reminded me of it. I made double quantities last time and we froze half. I can confirm that it is just as nice defrosted and reheated and about the only way I can make it in under 30 minutes Wink

Me and the DC's used the time saved to go to the park and make the most of todays sunshine :)

phooey · 23/03/2011 18:35

What's in pg pasta?

DuplicitousBitch · 23/03/2011 18:39

go to butchers, supermarket sausages are boak [awards self mn smuggery merit]

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 23/03/2011 18:41

our local butchers supermarket sausages are boak because the shop is full of danish bacon and suspiciously cheap meat that I'm certain isn't any worse than supermarket ones...........but it's certainly not "butchers" quality.

There is another butchers but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay £5-6 for 6 sausages Shock

pregnant pasta

PfftTheMagicDragon · 23/03/2011 20:30

Our butchers is also full of shit looking bacon and huge water filled chicken breasts. Would never buy sausages from them.

phooey · 23/03/2011 21:23

Looks pretty boring tbh, pregnant pasta? I'd expect tortellini or something stuffed and satisfyingly fat.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 23/03/2011 21:38

It is boring pasta, I've made it.

phooey · 23/03/2011 21:52

When I'm eventually pregnant if my DH serves that up, it will be returned to the kitchen to have cream and pancetta added to it, and copious Parmigiano.
