Atkins lunch boxes and other questions...

Hope someone can give my some suggestions.

I have just bought the book (so much for me not being drawn into the hype ) and I have a couple of questions.

  1. Is milk avoided completely in the Induction phase?

  2. Has anyone cheated a little and still lost weight?

  3. I take sandwiches to work as a money-saving option and am not sure what I could have as a filling alternative to sandwiches (obviously something I can prepare at home rather than buying).

TIA

No milk, but you can have a little bit of cream in your coffee (no sugar..)

Alternatives to sandwiches:

Cold sausages, chicken drumsticks with the skin,

Parma Ham, cooked ham or any cold meat in general

A piece of cheddar/emmenthal/brie or any cheese that takes your fancy

2 boiled eggs, a tin of tuna and half avocado

I haven't tried the diet myself, but have read all the articles you find in newspapers...I am on ww

Let us know how it goes

Hi,I did the diet about a year ago and lost 2 stone relatively easily. If you cheat by eating too many carbs then your body will not be in ketosis and the weight loss will be slower, but you will probably still lose because it's a healthy eating plan anyway.I would recommend the supplements as I got awful leg cramps until I started taking them. ,I found lunch at work the hardest time I took cheese ,cold meat and then after induction a yummy salad with loads of cesaer dressing and cold meat. The great thing about the diet is that you don't feel hungry at all.Good luck.

I've been sort of on the Atknis diet for a month now but found it impossible to avoid coffee, fruit and alchol so basically it didnt work. The diet doesnt allow you to cheat at all and even though I avoided all obvious carbs like rice, bread, potatoes etc, I only lost a few pounds before losing the will to live. I'm not a great lover of bacon and eggs or vast quantities of meat and if you have a sweet tooth you cant satisfy it at all, not even by chewing gum to counteract the horrendous bad breath. Anyway, good luck, if you are going to do it then you need to be prepared to go the whole hog and stick to the rules.
