I am hoping someone can help me, i have a 7 month old and she is totally addict to baby juice. i am sure its my fault as i started her on it at 3 months and now she is even waking in the night for it. Some one told me when she gets her first tooth it may come up black! As you can imagine this is scaring me to death and i am desperatly trying to get her to drink out of a beaker. She does not understand you need to suck on the spout and ends and just chewing on it and getting frustrated. How can i resolve this situation and do i try and stop the juice all together. The baby juices all say sugar free but i have recently been told that is not the case. Will my baby have black teeth!!!!!

My cousin lost her top 2 front teeth at age 2 due to too much juice in a bottle. She had metal front tooth replacements & we called her "Fangs" as a little girl... she hasn't forgiven us, funny enough.

Thanks for all your advice and help eveyone, i have started diluting her juice more and she doesn't seem all that keen, she woke up at 3am last night and i tryed to use other methods to get her back off but she screamed and screamed so i gave her juice. Its only recently she has started this because she used to go through. I am trying to find a beaker that is easy for dd to suck but i am having no success

Have you tried the Avent soft spout one - you can remove the valve so they only have to suck as much as a bottle. She really would probably take just water given half a chance

hi just wanted to say my dd has got her first tooth just coming (i noticed it yesterday) and it is white. PHEW!! although she is still having juice from the bottle and i have 7 beakers (no joke) in my cupboard none of which she will go near. I have tried giving water after dinner but she screams until she gets juice. Anyway i just wanted to say she has got a tooth!!

Congrats JennyJen! Try the staw or one of the sippy cups that has a very long tip with small holes so that she can still "suck" on it. It worked for me.

One of the health visitors at our practice said that if babies won't drink plain water you can put a fairly big chunk of apple or pear in their bottle/beaker. It flavours the water a bit but is not like giving them sugary juice.
