Sorry its a bit random !

I love chorizo and we eat it quite often but peeling it is a real pain in the arse. Its probably one of my most hated prep jobs

Does anyone have any tips to make it easier/quicker ?

Preparing Butternut Squash, my 2nd most hated food prep job Smile

TragicallyHip · 07/03/2011 21:56

What do you do with it then everythingchangeseverything?

candleshoe · 07/03/2011 21:56

everythingchanges - eh? what? you can't possibly eat the outside of a butternut squash it is made of reinforced concrete surely?

Tillyscoutsmum · 07/03/2011 21:58

I buy pre peeled and chunked Butternut Squash

I am disproportionately excited to do our next chorizo meal without peeling...

I always peel it, but if (as has already been said) you score up the side with a knife then the peel comes off pretty easily.

We have a really cheap peeler that peels squash and pumpkin so easily. In fact, we have three, as we buy them occasionally to give away when friend complain about not being able to peel butternut squash. Sort of D== shaped (that's lying on its side). Thin metal frame, two blades. Doesn't have a brand marked on it.

Ooo fanx everything!

trixymalixy · 07/03/2011 22:11

I always peel chorizo, slice up the side and then it peels off easily.

TragicallyHip · 07/03/2011 22:12

Oh I've tried the roasting and then peeling, it's a pita to take the skin off then so I prefer to peel 1st!

Bumperlicious · 07/03/2011 22:19

You're supposed to peel it?Blush

Have never considered peeling chorizo - use a potato peeler for butternut squash and an ice-cream scoop to get the seeds out....

LoopyLoopsHulaHoops · 07/03/2011 22:25

They don't peel it in Spain.
Do you lot peel chipolatas too?

trixymalixy · 08/03/2011 08:50

I never used to peel it until one day I made a chorizo salad for a dinner party and my guests were spitting out bits of skin. Since then I err in the safe side and peel it.
