Ok so im doing roast chicken

if i get all the meat off while its still hot then pop the bones in the slow cooker straight away can i then cool and freeze the stock? or does the slow cooker bit count as reheating so then id be reheating twice IYKWIM?

Chicken stock tends to be made using cold bones.
Well mine is and then I freeze it

ah so it should be fine then. Id read on another thread that it wasnt to reheat. do you put anything else in with the bones?

onion carrots depends what I have. Last time I had run out of onions so stuck in a leek

Also a few whole peppercorns, some root veg chopped about a bit, a bay leaf, some other woody herbs like thyme, pinch salt. And enough water to cover. Dont think there is any prob with sticking it straight in the slow cooker.

I do mine while it is still warm, I'd never thought about the reheating twice thing. I reckon that the fact it is boiling for quite a long time would make it safe.
