That's it really, I'm clueless with this cut. I know it needs a long time to cook so I need a recipe pretty quickly!

Thanks :)

I've roasted it in the past, just on a very low heat for a long time.

My mum used to pot roast it and I have since adopted the recipe...its bloody lovely!

Roughly chop a couple of onions, a couple of carrots and some celary (keep them quite big bits) and whack them in a casserole dish. Add brisket. Pour in enough water or stock to three quarter cover the meat. Put lid on. Put in oven. Leave for at least three hours on a reasonably low heat.

Take the meat out. Blitz up everything left in the casserole dish (I usually take out a couple of cups of water) and that makes really yummy, thick, healthy gravy. When its cooked it will all fall apart so you can't really "carve" it, it doesn't look pretty but its bloody lovely and healthy and yum!

Now that does sound nice Moody, perhaps with a glass of red too Smile

Oh of course with a glass of red!

ooh thanks, I'd forgotten to come back in my panic :o

Found a recipe on here by Slubberdegullion, and used that - it was bloody lovely, am very proud of myself!
