Can anyone help me now pls? Q re. Delia's Christmas cake baking parchment

Am using packet mix for Delia's Christmas cake mix. Cake is ready to go in the oven but just realised you need baking parchment to go around the outside of the tin and baking parchment to cover the cake. Can I use greaseproof paper to cover the cake and do I really need to put something on the outside of the tin? Don't have baking parchment to do this - could I use greaseproof paper for that as well if really needed? TIA

Greaseproof to line the tin and to rest over the top will be fine. You do need something around the outside of the tin to stop it burning around the edges- brown paper is what Delia suggests but if you don't have that then just use newspaper.

Hope it turns out OK ( and can I have a slice?)

Thanks very much RadioSilence. And, if I haven't got string what can I use??? Is there a useless emoticon I can use?
