Can anyone help - i am going back to work next week and my mother and father in law are going to be having my 1 year old son. I have tried to get him used to being there (and get them used to having him) for the last couple of weeks (just a couple of days -- not every day) and he point blank refuses to eat - he will happily take his lunch bottle but that's it - we see them alot altogether so it's not that he doesn't know them well enough, i'm really concerned as he eats so so well at home. He has never been away from me on his own before now or been fed by anyone else, could this be the problem?? Or is he just not comfortable with them??? Will it get better??? If it doesn't i don't think i can keep going to work - i worry so so much when it comes to him eating!!

I expect it'll get better once you all get into a routine and he becomes familiar with the idea that granny and grandpa are looking after him all day long. If he eats well at home he's not going to enjoy feeling hungry - few do. Try not to worry or he'll pick up on it, and this could make things worse rather than better.

Thank you so much, i am really hoping it's just him being annoyed at the fact mum's not here and after a few more days he will give in. Fingers crossed. Thank you for the reassurance ;o) XxX

I pride myself on being a good traditional cook and have never been so dismayed as when my dearly beloved son (from quite an early age) has returned from a stay at his granny's (worst cook in the universe) raving about her dubious grey slop Corned Beef Hash or some other culinary aberration!!!

He'll eat...
