What's the easiest way to make chocolate sauce for icecream?

Need to make a simple choc sauce for icecream. HAve got some dark chocolate but how do I make a sauce with it? Had thought I would just melt the chocolate and pour it over the icecream but dont want it to just go 'hard' again. Any tips? Do I just add butter or something to the melted choc to make it stay a bit runny?

any mars bars? you can melt them down (add some butter and syrup if you wish) for an amazing sauce

put a little bit of milk in a cup and the chocolate.
melt them at a lower power in microwave.
when done you can add some golden syrup, etc. and mix well, it must become like chocolate sauce, if runny you can add more chocolate in it and mix.

tassisss, no mars bars I'm afraid, bu noraa - that's just the kind of thing I was looking for as I didnt want to go out and buy special bits! Have you tried this before? Would it work better with butter?

i always use that method.
i dont add butter.

Melt a mars bar (1 between 2 people is OK) with a few tablespoons of cream. Add whiskey or brandy to taste - tra la! The same thing would work with melted chocoate, but mars bars do make a super sauce.

175g chocolate, 20g butter, 45ml water, 45ml golden syrup. Heat in a small saucepan until the chocolate has melted.
