what to add to choc to make a softer cake topping?

Is there an ingredient to add to chocolate that keeps it soft when set, to top a birthday cake? I've used melted chocolate before to top cakes but obviously it's always been hard when one cuts the cake! Thanks all!

a few spoonfulls of cream will make it more like a truffle mixture.

would that be double cream or single? Any idea how much for a 100g bar? thanks.

2 or 3 tbs of double, cool the choc a bit then add and whip together it thickens as it cools and makes a spreadable mixture similar texture to a butter icing.

melt together, allow to cool, eat with a spoon spread on cake.

The most delicious topping is 100g melted chocolate mixed with half a tin of condensed milk. Dribbles.....

I did the cream trick and it worked a treat! Lovely birthday cake for my baby - who is one today! Happy boy and happy mummy.
That condensed milk one sounds a good idea too for next time... mmmmm.

Oh no! I have half a tin of condensed milk languishing in the fridge and was wondering what to do with it. I have to make a cake now, don't I?

Happy 1st birthday for yesterday, linspins DS. Smile

Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.

You can also use it as a delicious topping for chocolate buns. Or normal buns. Or ice cream. Or straight from the spoon....
