I toast a piece of bread and cut into squares and put into a tuppaware container when we go out. doesn't stay quiet as crispy but works for a day. Otherwise I just give my dd bread. The other ones that work well are breadsticks, pieces of carrot, pieces of cheese - all of which can be put into small airtight containers and can go in handbag or changing bag!

raisins
sticks of cheese

hhhhenleyonthames · 04/10/2005 18:26

I wouldn't give raisins to a seven month old.

compo · 04/10/2005 18:26

why?

hhhhenleyonthames · 04/10/2005 18:27

choking (had three goes spelling that!! am brain dead )

compo · 04/10/2005 18:28

I can't remember what age I gave ds raisins but he had them once he could pick them up in a pincer movement. They are so small I didn't think choking would be lilely. I don't give whole grapes though!

maltloaf with butter
I gave raisins to my kids at 7 mo

I am a neurotic ex health visitor. Enough said

ah but you have a professional opinion on your side

Or mother hubbard - have my own burgeoning tribe of non raisin munchers!

My dd is 7.5 months and along with the usual bananas, rusks etc I also give her unsalted rice cakes. Although these do tend to go quite sticky once they've been sucked for a few minutes and can be a bugger to get off clothes/hair etc . Breadsticks are a good idea and I will be buying some this week.

TracyK · 05/10/2005 10:07

I gave mine raisins at 7mo. and he got a baby banana or 2 every day - he lived on them! babybels?

JiminyCricket · 05/10/2005 10:35

Rice cakes definitely and when she is a bit older kallo do lovely marmite flavour ones. Breadsticks? Only if she can suck on them OK. Trifle sponge biscuits (bit sugary).
