Got a new Slow Cooker, bought some Pork Steaks, help me please!

Well the title pretty much says it all.

I've bought a 3.5 ltr slow cooker in the sales, so far I've only tried Bolognese.

How do I cook 4 pork steaks? I've got a bottle of cider if that's any help.

this sounds nice (loin pork is pretty much the same as pork steaks I think)

Now that does sound nice. I hadn't though of chopping them up, was going to coat them in flour and brown them off and just bung all the other stuff in.

More ideas gratefully received Smile

When I do pork steaks, I thinly slice a small potato onto the bottom of the cooker, then thinly slice enough onion to cover. Brown off the steaks with flour, sage, pepper and thyme, place on the onions, and scatter a few more onion slices on top. You can skip the browning if you don't use too much flour, and take care not to pour the cider directly on the steaks. Otherwise, just cover with cider and cook on low six hours. Then I remove the steaks, and whizz up the liquid with my blender- the potato gives it some body. I serve it with mash and something green.

Mary will be giving that one a try, thank you. It sounds delicious Smile

Mary took your recipe but did in slowly in the main oven. Put the sliced potato on top though, not on the bottom and took off the lid for the last half hour or so, so that they would brown. The casserole had reduced so no need for blending.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I think I love you and so do my family Grin

Any more recipes from Chez Mary?

If I was still eating meat then this would be perfect way to cook pork for me...
