Crap my dishes don't go together, what can I serve?

My dad and girlfriend are coming later and I was going to make ham, dauphinoise potatoes & braised red cabbage. I've just realised that they don't really go together. Just prepped the ham and potatoes so have to stick with those but what can I serve instead of the cabbage?

I think that sounds lovely!

I love all those things.

What about doing what you have planned and some plain veggies too like broccoli or carrots.

I think they go fine!

Sounds amazing to me. Maybe some green veg or salad?

PositiveAttitude · 29/12/2010 12:10

Why do you think it doesn't go together?

Mustard. (as well as, not instead of). This is a well-established combination - why do you think it doesn't go?

The dauphinoise is creamy & garlicky and the cabbage is sweet and spicy (has apple red wine cinnamon etc) unless I could do the cabbage in another way?

Ok been having a look at some online menus and I think you are right, it'll br fine if I make the cabbage with wine and garlic (and apple) rather than sweet and spicy.

Yep, I can see that's better. Have a nice meal!
