Those of you that have their books is there anything that you have already tried that I can cook for me and DP for New Years Eve before we resort to the chinese as usual?

Looking for something that isn't too expensive either!

what sort of meal do you want to cook

nannyro · 28/12/2010 00:59

Jamie's Piri Piri chicken is delicious!

I was just coming on to post the same question! I'll try the Piri Piri chicken tomorrow. Thanks, nannyro!

We did the sea bass with sweet potato thing from jamie's 30 minute book and it was bloody gorgeous. The sea bass was pricey but I'd substitute another fish or even do some chicken instead. The flavours were amazing. It was quite casual though and we just sat at the table a la pig-trough eating off a big chopping board so don't do it if it's a posh meal!

I'm doing Jamie's slow-cooked marmalade pork tonight (was from last month's sainsburys mag but if you do a search somebody wrote the recipe a few weeks ago). It's also really yummy. Actually I'm just about to post about what to serve with it!

Don't want it to be a posh thing - not really posh us!

Jamie's chicken pie (30 minute book p92) is quick, easy and delicious.

What can I substitute for mushrooms in it though -as I want to serve it to a family member who hates mushrooms.

maverick - chestnuts? or just leave them out.

maverick · 29/12/2010 18:36

That's an idea, taffeta, thanks, perhaps a bit strong flavoured though?

Do you think leeks would do?

Jamie's cook-in curry sauce is fab. I think its in Happy Days. Make double of the sauce & freeze some for later.
