Do I have to soak my gammon overnight?

I'm doing it tomorrow but should I soak it tonight? It's a smoked joint and I'm going to slow cook it in cider.

God, yes. I would put it in soak nhow. It can't do it any harm.
Our was absolutley devine yesterday. I thought it was still a tiny bit salty, but dh said no, and ds1(6) and ds2(2) wolfed it down, like you wouldn't believe, so it can't have been that bad. Am looking forward to it cold today with french stick, apple sauce and whole grain mustard.
Hope yours goes well.

If you haven't soaked it already, Nigella says in one of her recipes, just before you cook it, place in pan in cold water, bring to boil, drain, rinse pan, then you're ok. Have done it that way rather than soaking overnight, when forgot to soak one and it's been ok. (In fact, lazy-itis, that's what I do now Grin)

Would definitely soak smoked gammon as first preference. If no time do it as caddifflur suggests.
